Terms & Conditions
These terms apply when you purchase or use the BCV course, Leave University in a Strong Position. We've tried to keep them clear and straightforward — please read them before purchasing.
Two roles used throughout these terms
"Purchaser" means the person who buys the Course and enters into this contract with us.
"Student" means the individual who is given access to and uses the Course.
Where someone buys the Course for themselves, they are both the Purchaser and the Student. Where the Course is bought as a gift, the Purchaser and the Student are different people, and each has the responsibilities set out in the sections that follow.
Contents
These Terms & Conditions apply when you purchase or use the BCV course provided by The Bespoke CV Consultant Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), company number 16843562, whose registered office is at 5 Byron Close, Canterbury CT1 1XN.
In these terms, "the Course" means our online course, Leave University in a Strong Position, including its written content, exercises, frameworks and companion materials. "BCV" refers to the business and brand through which we provide the Course. See the box above for what "Purchaser" and "Student" mean, and note below where the two are different people.
We've tried to keep these terms clear and straightforward. Please read them before purchasing.
About BCV
BCV is a self-paced online course designed to help university students think earlier and more deliberately about their future employability.
It provides information, guidance, exercises and practical tools intended to help Students build useful experience and evidence during university and present that experience more effectively when the time comes to apply for opportunities.
BCV is an educational product. It is not a recruitment service, careers agency or guarantee of employment.
Purchasing the course
The Course costs £49 as a one-off payment, payable by the Purchaser. This price includes any applicable UK VAT.
There are no recurring payments or subscription charges.
Once the Purchaser has successfully completed payment, access to the Course is provided to the Student immediately.
Access is protected by a password and is intended for the individual Student for whom the Course has been purchased.
Buying BCV as a gift
The Course can be bought by a Purchaser for a Student other than themselves — for example, by a parent or family member buying for a university student.
Where a purchase is made as a gift, we may provide a code so that the intended Student can activate their own access to the Course.
The Purchaser is responsible for providing accurate information when making the purchase and, where applicable, for passing the gift code to the intended Student.
A gift code may only be used once and is intended for one individual Student. Once activated, access belongs to that Student and should not be transferred or shared with anyone else.
Access to BCV
Purchase gives the Student ongoing access to the Course through our online platform, for as long as we continue to operate BCV. There is currently no fixed expiry date for that access.
We intend the Course to remain available on an ongoing basis. However, technology, hosting arrangements and the Course itself may change over time. We may therefore change the platform used to provide the Course or make reasonable changes to the way it is accessed.
If we ever need to make a significant change affecting existing Students' access — including if BCV were to stop operating, be sold, or cease providing the Course — we will take reasonable steps to minimise disruption and to notify affected Students.
We may also update, improve or replace parts of the Course over time.
Your account and password
The Student's BCV account is for their personal use.
The Student should keep their login details and password secure and must not deliberately share them with other people to allow them to access the Course.
We may suspend or restrict access where we reasonably believe an account or course materials are being shared, copied, distributed or used in breach of these terms. See Section 13 for what this means for any refund.
If the Student has difficulty accessing their account, the Student — or the Purchaser, where different — should contact support@thebespokecvconsultant.com.
Cancellation and refunds
The Course is digital content which is made available immediately after purchase.
At checkout, the Purchaser will be asked to confirm — by ticking a box before payment — that they agree access to the digital content can begin immediately, and that they acknowledge that, once supply of the digital content begins, they lose their statutory 14-day right to cancel the purchase.
This does not affect any other statutory rights the Purchaser may have, including their rights where digital content is faulty, not as described or does not otherwise meet the standards required by law.
If the Purchaser or Student experiences a problem with the Course, or the Purchaser believes they have been charged incorrectly, please contact support@thebespokecvconsultant.com and we will investigate.
What BCV can and cannot do
The Course is designed to help Students make better-informed decisions, build stronger evidence and present their experience more effectively. What a Student gets from the Course will depend partly on what they choose to do with it.
BCV cannot guarantee employment, an internship, work experience, an interview, an offer, admission to any programme or any other particular career or application outcome.
Recruitment decisions are made by employers and other organisations over which we have no control.
The Course is intended to improve the Student's understanding, preparation and ability to present their own experience. It does not replace the Student's own judgement and effort.
CVs, applications and other material you create
Examples, suggestions, frameworks and exercises within the Course are there to help the Student think about and describe their own genuine experience.
The Student remains responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of anything they include in a CV, application, online profile or other material.
The Course should never be used as a reason to exaggerate, invent or misrepresent qualifications, responsibilities, achievements or experience.
The Student is also responsible for checking the requirements of any particular employer, university, professional body or other organisation before submitting an application.
Course information
We take reasonable care to make the information in the Course accurate and useful.
However, recruitment practices, employer expectations, application processes and the employment market change over time. Different employers and sectors may also take different approaches.
Nothing within the Course should therefore be treated as a statement that every employer or recruiter will behave in a particular way.
Where we discuss recruitment practices, deadlines, employer preferences or similar matters, these should be understood as guidance rather than guarantees. Students should check important dates and requirements directly with the relevant organisation.
Intellectual property
The Course, including its written content, structure, exercises, frameworks, examples, graphics, downloads and other materials, is owned by or licensed to The Bespoke CV Consultant Ltd and is protected by intellectual property law. This includes BCV's named frameworks and tools (such as the Evidence Bank and related decision tools) and the BCV brand and logo.
Purchasing the Course gives the Student a personal right to use it and its materials for their own educational and career-development purposes. It does not transfer ownership of the course materials.
The Student may download or print materials where we make that functionality available, for their own personal use.
Neither the Purchaser nor the Student may, without our written permission:
- copy or reproduce substantial parts of the Course;
- share course materials with other people;
- upload course materials to another website, platform or service;
- sell, license or commercially exploit the materials;
- use the materials to create or provide another course, training product or commercial service;
- use BCV's names, frameworks or branding in a way that implies our endorsement of their own work, business or content; or
- distribute the Student's login details to allow other people to access BCV.
Availability of the platform
We aim to keep BCV available and accessible, but we cannot guarantee that the platform will be available without interruption at all times.
Occasionally access may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, updates, technical problems or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Where reasonably possible, we will try to resolve significant access problems promptly.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
Subject to that, we are not responsible for losses arising simply because a Student does not achieve a particular employment, recruitment or career outcome after using the Course.
We are also not responsible for decisions made by employers, recruiters, universities or other third parties.
The Course is purchased for personal use. We are therefore not responsible for business losses, loss of profits or other commercial losses arising from its use, whether claimed by the Purchaser or the Student.
The Purchaser's statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these terms.
Misuse of BCV
We may suspend or terminate a Student's access to the Course where we reasonably believe that the Student, or someone using their account, is:
- sharing an account or password with multiple users;
- copying or distributing substantial parts of the Course;
- attempting to interfere with the operation or security of the platform;
- using the Course or its materials for an unlawful purpose; or
- otherwise seriously or repeatedly breaching these terms.
Where appropriate, we will try to contact the Student, or the Purchaser where different, before taking this action.
Where we suspend or terminate access for one of these reasons, the Purchaser will not be entitled to a refund simply because access has been withdrawn as a result of that breach. This does not affect any statutory rights the Purchaser may separately have.
Privacy
We process personal information — of both Purchasers and Students, where they are different people — in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and the rights you have in relation to your personal information.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time, for example because we change the Course, the technology used to provide it, or because legal requirements change.
Any changes will not remove statutory rights that Purchasers already have.
The latest version of these terms will be available through our website.
Entire agreement
These terms, our Privacy Policy, the information provided on the Course purchase page and the details confirmed at checkout form the basis on which the Course is purchased and provided.
They replace any earlier understanding, whether written or oral. Statements made elsewhere, including on social media, do not vary these terms unless we expressly confirm that they do.
Nothing in this section limits or excludes liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Assignment
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation — for example, if we sell or restructure the business providing BCV — provided this does not reduce the level of service or protection the Purchaser and Student are entitled to under these terms.
The Purchaser may not transfer their rights or obligations under these terms to anyone else without our written agreement, except where these terms expressly allow it — such as passing on an unused gift code to the intended Student under Section 3.
Third-party rights
Where the Purchaser and Student are different people, the Purchaser enters into this contract with us. The Student is not a party to the contract, but by activating and using the Course, the Student agrees to be bound by the provisions of these terms that concern access to and use of the Course — namely Sections 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 13.
Under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, the Student may enforce those provisions directly against us, as if they were a party to this contract in relation to them.
No other provision of these terms, and no other person, is intended to be enforceable under that Act. In particular, only the Purchaser may exercise rights relating to payment, cancellation and refunds under Section 6.
The limitations on our liability in Section 12 apply equally to any claim brought by the Student, whether in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise, as if the Student were a party to these terms for that purpose.
If something goes wrong
We want problems to be resolved simply and fairly.
If the Purchaser or Student has a question, complaint or problem with BCV, please contact support@thebespokecvconsultant.com. We will try to resolve the issue within a reasonable period.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If the Purchaser is a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, they may also have rights under the laws that apply where they live.
Nothing in these terms removes any rights the Purchaser has under applicable consumer law.
